In the performance for camera above-under-with the table, I try to find a connection and balance between me and another object.

I start by scanning the object comparing to my body. In the process I begin to get to know it better. To know it’s sharp and round sides, the strong and weak parts of it. As a start I tend to behave more dominant on it and use my strength to learn it with all of my senses.

Then it’s the time to calm down my defences and let it know me better. I try to let it balance with my body and soul; to change me into its shape in order to be more friendly for it. As the time pass by, we synchronise into one rhythm; one object-human, human-object, object-object, human-human being. Isn’t this a way to engage with people as well?

An exercise by Dr Angeliki Avgitidou in the class of performance II (uowm).
